The Nutshells series of guides aim to help students grasp the basic of subjects.  For compulsory subjects like equity and trusts, which are often considered technical topics, they often therefore form an important part of the learning process.  Nutshells: Equity & Trusts adopts the same aim of providing an accurate overview of the law to allow the reader to quickly understand the basics.  Fortunately, this new edition of Michael Haley's Nutshells: Equity and Trusts does exactly that.

Nutshells: Equity & Trusts is written by Professor Michael Haley, an experienced academic in the fields of property law, equity and trusts and landlord and tenant law.  The text is broken down into a number of chapters including: the trust; constitution of trusts; formalities; secret trusts; resulting trusts; constructive trusts; charitable trusts; trustee's duties; powers of maintenance, advancement and delegation; variation of trusts; and breach of trust and associated remedies.

Nutshells: Equity & Trusts is well written and includes reference to case-law and statutory provisions, which is sometimes absent from revision aids.  Instead of being bought as a revision aide, students wanting the best prospect of understanding this difficult area of law should consider buying this text at the start of an equity and trusts course as preparatory reading before lectures.  This will allow the reader to 'hit the ground running' and understand the technical phrases before reading a more substantial text.

For students looking for an overview of equity and trusts law, they should consider Nutshells: Equity & Trusts.  It is a superb revision aid and ideal for students preparing for examinations.  The questions and answers are also helpful to drive home the key learning points.  Nutshells: Equity & Trusts is well-priced and written in an accessible manner.  If you find equity and trusts quite technical, this text may solve some of the problems!
