Landlord and Tenant Law has, particularly over recent years, undergone substantial legislative reform.  For example, the Regulatory Reform (Business Tenancies) (England and Wales) Order 2003 dramatically changed the existing rules on protected business tenancies.  It is therefore vital for practitioners to have an accurate and up-to-date source of legislative materials.

The fourth edition of Butterworth's Business Landlord and Tenant Handbook incorporates these substantial legislative amendments.  It provides a one-stop resource for students interested in this area of law or commercial landlord and tenant advisors.  The authors have also, following a reader's suggestion, included the important provisions of Section 136 of the Law of Property Act 1925.

The text is, like its sister publications, well structured.  The material is separated into statutes and statutory instruments.  The index is also excellent: listing the material in both alphabetical and chronological order.  Each section is also given its own paragraph number so it can be quickly located.  The authors have also included in the excellent notes section details of the material's revisions.  This allows the reader to consider whether the legislative changes happened before or after a certain point in time.

This new edition of Butterworth's Business Landlord and Tenant Handbook should be welcomed by practitioners, students and other professionals who deal with business landlords and tenants.  I regularly keep this text close to hand so I can quickly check points which may arise during the working day.  It remains a one-stop resource and, at £76.00, provides excellent value for money.
