One of the key features of Amending a Commercial Lease is its simplicity. The layout extremely easy to use. It includes a sample lease on one page and suggested amendments and alterations on the other. This is an excellent idea because the author explains why amendments are necessary referring, where appropriate, to case-law. This allows the reader to persuade their opponent that the amendment is reasonable. The commentary is written in a lucid and engaging way. It explains the key principles and issues that the reader should consider when amending a lease. It is usually the case that the first draft of any lease prepared by a landlord's solicitors will favour the landlord. The tenant's solicitors must therefore know which provisions to amend, which to delete and where to add provisions. Amending a Commercial Lease is becoming one of the standard reference texts for any commercial landlord and tenant practitioner. It is extremely easy to use and written in an engaging way. Whilst it remains ideal for a newly qualified practitioner, the text provides excellent value for money and should be considered by any practitioner. Without it, the reader may be need to unnecessarily spend time checking basic issues which could otherwise be avoided. Reviewed on 27 November 2007 © Student Law Journal, 2001 - All Rights Reserved |
