Boyle & Birds' Company Law is a well-established and highly respected company law textbook.  This new edition manages to incorporate the substantial company law developments since the last edition in a seamless manner whilst remaining authoritative and engaging.

The Companies Act 2006 has caused considerable problems for company law texts.  Because it will be brought in to force in stages, it leaves a difficult question for authors: do they assume the 2006 Act or 1985 Act is in force?  Thankfully, Boyle & Birds' Company Law strikes a fantastic balance by assuming the 2006 Act is in force but explaining, in the footnotes, the 'old' provisions.  This is an excellent compromise.

The text continues to be well-written providing the reader with an accessible and engaging account of company law.  Each topic is divided into chapters which are then sub-divided into manageable sections.  This is a fantastic feature because the reader may other become quickly lost in what is a complex but engaging area of law.  Company Law remains a subject that people either love or hate.  For those who love it, the style and content makes the text a joy to read.  Similarly, readers who fall into the latter category will find this text a fantastic resource.

Boyle & Birds' Company Law continues to be one of the leading company law texts.  It is superbly written combining authoritative text and excellent references.  It also includes a unusually detailed index which allows the reader to quickly locate the relevant paragraph.  At only £35, Boyle & Birds' Company Law provides excellent value for money and rightfully remains one of the leading company law texts.
