Ian Loveland's Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and Human Rights: A Critical Introduction has a rather ambitious aim to cover three distinct topics which are often form three separate modules.  Despite this ambitious aim, Loveland's knowledge and expertise in this area of law ensures the material is given sufficient treatment.

Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and Human Rights: A Critical Introduction is separated into four main parts: theoretical principles; the institutions and operation of national government; the geographical separation of power; administrative law; and human rights.  Each part is then sub-divided into a number of chapters.  For example, the part on administrative law includes chapters on substantive grounds of judicial review and procedural grounds of judicial review. 

Drawing upon his vast experience of this area of law, Loveland's Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and Human Rights: A Critical Introduction is both well-written and accessible.  The material is fairly well organised meaning relevant parts can be quickly located and understood.  It also comes with an Online Resource Centre (an "ORC") which includes the author's "mind maps" and an excellent (and fully-linked) online case-book.  These additions, included for free on the ORC, provided excellent added value for readers of this text.

Loveland's Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and Human Rights: A Critical Introduction has an impressive aim.  It largely achieves this aim by adopting a very thorough and methodical approach to the material.  Its ambitious aim does, however, mean that some of the material is not as developed as it could be (which explains the use of "A Critical Introduction") but it does give more than a flavour of the arguments.  Readers looking for an accessible consideration of these three distinct but interrelated topics could do much worse that buying Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, and Human Rights: A Critical Introduction.  Its ORC and accessibly written material also means it is likely to be a favourite text for years to come.
