For many years, Lloyd's Introduction to Jurisprudence has been the leading textbook on the whole field of jurisprudence.  Now in its eighth edition and edited by Professor Freeman, it continues to sublimely combine engaging and thought provoking text with superbly selected extracts.

Although entitled an "introduction", Lloyd's Introduction to Jurisprudence runs to just under 1.600 pages (1,587 pages to be precise!).  It is not, therefore, a text for the faint-hearted or those looking for a short summary of the principles.  It is, however, an in depth and authoritative guide to the main principles and concepts of jurisprudence which have been expertly pulled together in one text.  The author should be commended for his efforts.

Lloyd's Introduction to Jurisprudence is surprisingly well-written meaning that concepts which are often misunderstood or complex to understand are broken down into manageable sections.  Similarly, the text includes numerous footnotes which are an excellent starting point for further and often difficult relationship.  Freeman also includes, at the end of each chapter, a number of superbly selected extracts which saves the reader valuable research time.

For anyone looking to tackle this difficult and complex area of legal study, they should look no further than Lloyd's Introduction to Jurisprudence.  It sublimely combines text with source extracts meaning it is an indispensible guide to the voluminous wealth of source material.  Its price and depth of text and sources also means it is excellent value for money.
