Written in an engaging and thought provoking way, The Sale of Goods is separated into ten chapters: introduction and conclusion of the contract; definition and subject matter of the sale of goods contract; the passing of property; risk, mistake and frustration; termination of a contract for breach; delivery, acceptance and payment; the implied terms for description, fitness and quality; statements, liability of remote sellers and exclusion clauses; the seller's duty and power to transfer title; and the remedies of the seller and buyer. This ensures comprehensive coverage of the topics. Many lawyers often consider Benjamin's Sale of Goods the seminal text on this area of law. Professor Bridge's expertise, being an outstanding lawyer on sales law and combining his knowledge and understanding of both contract and personal property law, means The Sale of Goods is a serious rival. It is supremely accessible meaning it is an excellent text for inexperienced students to more experienced practitioners. It also impressively deals with the interrelationship (or not) between the laws on rejection and those dealing with rescission for misrepresentation. Professor Bridge's The Sale of Goods is a serious text on sales law that no practitioner interested in this area of law should be without. Its price does, however, mean it will often be beyond the reach of most undergraduates. That said, it should always be part of any serious law library. With such a fast moving area of law, I hope Professor Bridge does not leave it so long before the next edition. Reviewed on 20 December 2009 © Student Law Journal, 2001 - All Rights Reserved |
